Tesoros de Gracia- Sakerti

The mission of Tesoros de Gracia-Sakerti is lead by Pastor Jorge Hernandez, a.k.a. "Little Gee", along with his wife Marlen and their children.  Their focus is to grow deep roots in their church, their daycare/preschool and their community. They believe that strong relationships are built by being actively involved in the community. And they do that every day!

The church was started in the streets of Sakerti.  They set chairs up in the streets to hold worship services and invited the local residents to participate.  It took a while, but week after week, their numbers increased!  They were reaching the "unchurched" in a positive way.  God is so good!  As the congregation grew, the idea of building a church became a reality. With the acquisition of the property, the church family diligently began raising funds for construction over several years.   The members of the church helped in so many ways during the construction process: demolition, clean-up, building, painting, organizing materials, more cleaning....and in 2014, they received a grant which allowed them to finish most of the second floor of the new church.

They have had a great response from the community and the services are full!  There have been weddings, communion, confirmation & graduation services, as well as local training for the community.

In 2013, Marlen started a Christian daycare/preschool called "Amor y Risas" (Love & Laughter) .  They started with 30 children and it has grown to 50. By the end of 2014, they had outgrown the original building.  The classrooms were on multiple floors and it was difficult with young children to go up and down the steps several times per day. They also offered after school programs which included tutoring.  With the construction of the new church underway, the plan was to utilize the second floor of the church for classrooms for the daycare/preschool, Sunday school classes, Youth Group ministry, Vacation Bible School, a kitchen and a new space for the feeding program, as well as after-school activities, and community support training classes.
